Foundational Course

If your child is of 1st or 2nd grade age, he or she is ready to start the Foundational Course.

If your child is of 3rd grade age⁺ and struggles with fluency and/or sounding out words, the Foundational Course can serve as catch-up for the phonetic piece he or she is missing.

If your child is of kindergarten age and is already an early reader, can recognize the letters of the alphabet and their associated sounds, can sound out three-letter words; he or she is most probably ready to start the Foundational Course. It would serve as an enrichment course.

The pure beauty of Voweletics is not only does it provide the essential skills for excellent reading and spelling for all learners, but its differentiated skill activities meet the needs for the varying skill levels.

Every lesson is designed for your child to experience personal success at his or her own skill level. This is critical for ALL learners to build reading confidence. Some young children pick up reading quite easily. These children generally have shown a keen interest in books being read to them and often have good memorization skills. None-the-less; as reading becomes more complex, it is super important for ALL children to develop strong decoding skills. After 30+ years of educational research, it is well substantiated that phonetic instruction is imperative when developing reading and spelling skills. This instruction should not be left to chance!

Essential foundational reading skills are woven into the Voweletics Foundational Courses. Your child is seamlessly guided through the learning process. For the most part… YES! After all, they are just kids. But don’t you worry one single bit…Voweletics does ALL the teaching. Learning includes step-by-step video tutorials in each lesson geared towards the child. Short mentor instructions for each lesson activity can be found in a dropdown menu to help guide the mentor, whoever that might be at any given time.

After the first couple of lessons, your child will be able to complete many of the activities independently with a watchful eye from the mentor. We are a team - your child, you and our Voweletics support team! Let’s do this and have a joyful learning experience together!

You can estimate a lesson will take roughly 4 hours to complete. The first couple of lessons will be on the longer side as your child is learning a new activity and is becoming familiar with the Voweletics method. Being whereas lessons were purposely designed with similar activities to help build confident independent learners, less time will be needed in subsequent lessons. Get a couple of lessons under your belt, then you’ll be off to the races!

Voweletics is a “slow and easy wins the race” course. This way your child is learning at a comfortable pace and loving learning along the way. In your mind, perhaps plan to complete one lesson every two weeks. Short learning segments can be slotted in to meet your family’s schedule. Learning should be fun, rewarding and stress free!

Your concerns are completely valid and shared by many parents. Honestly…you cannot just “wiggle your nose” or place your child in front of a technology device and achieve optimal results. The learning-to-read process must be carefully guided. YOUR CHILD NEEDS A PRECISE PLAN! Voweletics provides that exact and simplified plan! Here are a couple of other things that may ease any concerns:

• Voweletics lessons present skills at a rate that are easy to pick up.
• Voweletics was created to help children to become independent learners. After the first few lessons, your child will be able to do much of the work on his or her own with a little “accountability assistance”.
• Voweletics is designed so that any mentor (parents, grandparents, older siblings, nannies, sitters, etc.) can step in to assist when needed by using the simple drop-down mentor instruction with every activity. Your child will be so accustomed to the routine, he or she will be teaching them!!!
• Voweletics can be used on a computer, tablet or cell phone. This provides easy ways to sneak in a short practice session to accommodate your ever changing, last-minute schedules:
  • Driving here and there for errands and children’s activities? Using a phone or tablet is simply perfect for a quick in-the-car Sight Word practice.

  • Working on dinner prep after a looooong day? This is a great time for your child to open the Activity Book at the kitchen counter. A little oversight is needed; but you will be amazed with how much he or she can do independently.

For certain! In fact, schools use Voweletics as supplemental instruction to their core reading programs. They love the simple, explicit way the essential foundational reading skills are taught and the outstanding reading improvement their students achieve. As children advance when learning to read, more complex skills are introduced.
