Tackling the hardest part of learning to read
Five vowels in the English language make a total of 18 different sounds. YIKES!
Not understanding WHY each vowel sound is different leads to word guessing, diminishes reading confidence, and is the critical reading skill our children are missing.
Voweletics delivers the solution
Voweletics is phonics simplified
Stop the guessing
Any 1st grader will probably tell you that consonants are the easy part of learning to read. The challenge arises when trying to understand why a simple vowel, like the letter "e", creates different sounds in different words. Without having a solid understanding of why, children revert to guessing the word. And they guess... and they guess... until they finally get it right.
Voweletics puts a stop to the guessing by teaching to the the hardest part of learning to read.... the vowels.
The 5 vowels in the English language make a total of 18 different sounds. Not understanding WHY each vowel sound is different leads to word guessing, diminishes reading confidence, and is the critical reading skill our children are missing.
Voweletics teaches young readers WHY the same vowel makes different sounds in different words. Our systematic, standards-based learning courses elevate reading levels and produce an endless array of smiles.

hen he her
One vowel.
Three simple words.
Three very different vowel sounds.
Can you explain why the letter "e" sounds different?
Improve reading accuracy
To become a good reader, it's essential to know the right vowel sounds and when to use them in words. Voweletics consolidates the phonetic code into three simple rules. These rules form the structure for decoding any word.
The Smart Chart is a printed resource children use until mastery is achieved. When the reader encounters an unfamiliar word, they use the Voweletics LOOK! THINK! READ! process to identify the vowel pattern and determine which of the three rules applies.
Example of the LOOK! THINK! READ! process using the word hen:
The word hen has one vowel, so we will use the Voweletics Rule - WHAT TO DO #1. The letter "e" has letters after it, making this a short vowel pattern. This Voweletics character, Eggly, serves as the guide word so readers know which vowel sound a short "e" makes.
Foster a joyful learning environment
While the Voweletics reading program perfectly aligns with the science of reading methodology, our learning materials are also fun and captivating!
It's our core belief that vibrant and engaging phonetic instruction is critical for skill retention, so Voweletics incorporates multi-sensory components (visual, auditory and kinesthetic) into each lesson. These components encourage the use of the analytical left brain and the creative right brain. This technique facilitates rapid comprehension and memory recall.
When we say fun, we mean FUN!!!
Have a quick listen to a medley of our favorite Voweletics songs, curated just for you. We guarantee you'll be tapping to the beat with a smile on your face!

Voweletics gets students excited to learn!
Each new Voweletics lesson gets kicked off with the Character Introduction. Voweletics characters serve as the guide words for particular vowel sounds. Your students will identify with the characters and remember the vowel sounds by associating with the character. These short audio files bring each character to life and encourage the use of imagination.

Catchy tunes make rules easy to learn.
Rule Songs teach when to use different vowel sounds heard in words. The rules are visually represented on color-coded charts and provide a quick reference for deciphering correct vowel sounds. These charts are used repeatedly throughout the program.

Voweletics puts a STOP to guessing at words!
Charting Practice teaches each lesson. In these videos, students learn how to use the Voweletics method to accurately sound out words. When children understand how & why different vowel sounds are heard, they can duplicate their knowledge in reading thousands of words and not rely on memorization when reading and spelling.
The Charting Practice videos average less than 10 minutes of teaching instruction. Watch a short excerpt of this Charting Practice to see how your child will chart a word.

Enjoy these amazing benefits
Word Lists provide a lists of words that have the vowel sound and pattern taught in each lesson. Students successfully practice reading words that follow the rules they are learning. Word Lists also help to build vocabulary. Accompanying audio files help to build reading fluency. In addition, cumulative Word Lists reinforce learned skills.
Reader’s Theater consists of leveled poems, letters or song lyrics for students to practice repeated reading. This strategy is proven to increase reading fluency, demonstrate proper reading expression and build the reader’s confidence. Weekly instruction culminates with a delightful Reader's Theater presentation. So turn the lights down low and enjoy the show!
Key to Voweletics instruction is its carefully coordinated spelling program. Spelling is integrated into Kindergarten and phonetic spelling programs are implemented in 1st & 2nd grade. Phonetic skills are transferred to spelling establishing the reading/writing connection. In addition, varying spelling activities are interspersed throughout the 26 lessons.
Voweletics provides mini-checkpoints along the way. These are short assessment activities built into weekly instruction. In early learning-to-read stages, it is critical not to wait until quarterly reports or beginning-middle-end of year assessments to track student progress. Early intervention is the best form of prevention. Success for ALL students!
Voweletics provides a precise plan for the learner to advance K-2nd grade sight word proficiency. Sight words are those words that we see most frequently in reading. Did you know, the 100 most common sight words make up 50% of the average reading content at any reading level? Sight Word Practice is self-paced. Students are encouraged to practice independently using the self-checking audio files.
